Dr Justin Chalker speaks to SMAF Physics students about science research

Donna and Jak with Justin

Justion lectures in Synthetic Chemistry gave a fascinating talk about his career in science research. He described his journey from growing up in a small town in Kansas, USA, to arriving here at Flinders and the different experiences he has had along the way with science. He talked to the students about the importance of having a mentor and how the ones he has had have changed the way he viewed the nature of science itself. He also described how exciting science research is as he has been able to invent new reactions and new molecules which can be used in many everyday applications, including treatments for burn victims and cleaning up mercury from the environment.
